Houdini R&D

Research & Development project

Research projects on using Houdini as a platform for creative coding in an environment when real-time rendering is not needed. After coding a lot in OpenFrameworks (C++) to construct realtime computing software, I’ve been getting more interested to use Houdini’s Vex language (C) for any visual coding projects that do not require realtime computation. This allows me to use Houdini’s amazing workflow and Mantra rendering engine for realistic rendering capabilities.

These try-outs are my first explorations into using Houdini. All of the projects include some form of Vex scripting. I’ve also made use of Aalto Studios’ motion capture studio to record my own motion capture data which I then wrangled into Houdini giving for some interesting results.
